It’s the first week of 2020 when everyone’s back to work, which means the office is full of Dry January adherents. In fact, in the UK it’s estimated that around a fifth of people vow to get off the booze in January after what is almost invariably a very fatty and boozey December and Christmas – a lot of people basically! Whilst it might sound counterintuitive, there are a lot of reasons why coming off booze is actually potentially very good for your love life! Here’s why

Feel the nerves!

A lot of us use alcohol as a crutch to get over our initial nerves and anxiety about going on a date – understandably! But there’s an argument to be made that a healthier way to meet someone new and find out whether you’re into them or not is to do it without being under the influence and figuring out whether your feelings for them are real or not.

Performance

We all know what can happen – the proverbial ‘Whiskey Dick’. Yep, alcohol not only has been proven to be fairly awful in terms of male fertility, but it’s also dreadful in terms of performance in bed, reducing blood flow and making erections (in what might already be an anxiety-inducing new encounter) a tricker or nonexistent proposition! So Dry January may mean better sexual performance!

Novelty

How many dates have you had in a bar? Thousands. Coming off the booze might expand your horizons in terms of date-venue-options and let you do something a little more unusual and perhaps a whole more memorable!
