Virtual reality is making a big step into our lives with new technology being introduced this year that promises us an experience like never before. Sure, VR has made fleeting appearances in films and TV series’ in the past, but often playing an unconvincing role that has left us thinking the cyber world is nothing more than a fantasy. But now, in 2016, virtual reality is more real than we could’ve imagined.
VR porn is set to be the next big thing in the adult/ technology industry. Where geeks and Lotharios alike can explore their wildest dreams. Porn has always been a one way experience, in which the audience is just the audience, a spectator of clairvoyant proportions where it takes the power of your imagination to achieve sexual elation. Sure, there have been attempts at integrating the audience like POV videos which put you in the perspective of the lucky seducer and live chat which offers a real-time, two-way interactive cybersex experience. But, for some people, this still falls short of the full erotic extravaganza they are searching for.
One of America’s largest porn media providers have started producing the first 180-degree POV VR videos. And they are quite immersive to say the least. You can take part in a threesome, try out anal sex or even a same sex experience. The possibilities with this integrative media seem endless, but the question is, how far will it go?
Porn has always been associated with hormonal teens in their bedrooms that want education and inspiration to help them in real life, or couples looking for new things to try out. But this next step in erotic innovation looks as though it will cut out the middle man (or woman) altogether. Where sexual pleasure will start and end in the solitary walls of your bedroom. The issue is, that in the search for a better, more immersive experience, they may have stumbled upon something so close to the real thing, people won’t want or need to go to the effort of trying in the real world.
Of course there are some drawbacks, when we say virtual reality, we mean you put the headset and headphones on and you are transported into a room with promiscuous, naked porn stars ready for action. Sounds great right? And the scene around you depicts reality as you look around, up, down and to each side. But with a 180 degree field of view, if you look too far to the sides or up and down then you see black. Although, who wants to look behind when the action is happening in front of you?
